Privacy Best Practices

Respecting the privacy of the visitors and members who use™ is a major priority for Knowledge Institute. We have implemented the industry best-practices, as developed by the Worldwide Web Consortium (, for allowing web users more control over their online privacy. Public: Privacy Statement for Non-Members

We make no effort to identify public users of our site. No identifying data is disclosed to any third party for any purpose. Data that we collect is used only for server administration and to gain insight about how active our website is.

This statement applies to non-member interactions with the Web servers. It does not apply to email sent to staff or lists. Any questions regarding the web site and the privacy policy can be directed to privacy AT BUZGate DOT org. Email interactions are guided by general net-etiquette conventions.

As is typical, we log http requests to our server. This means that we know the originating IP (e.g. address of a user agent requesting a URL. We also know the Referer and User-Agent information accompanied with an HTTP request. We do not log the specific identity of visitors. We occasionally analyze the log files to determine which files are most requested and the previous site or user agent which prompted the request. Our logging is passive; we do not use technologies such as cookies to maintain any information on users.

We also log requests to our search, cgi, and list maintenance services. This data is only used for administration and researching the efficacy of our tools.

Logged information is kept indefinitely as admistrative and research material; it is not disclosed outside of host site personnel. Aggregate (completely non-identifying) statistics generated from these logs may be reported as part of research results.

We use member related information for the purposes of administering various programs, and communicating and collaborating with our members.

This statement (and the Public Statement above) applies to member interactions with the Web site. It does not apply to non-member interactions nor email sent to staff or lists. What Information Do We Collect? explicitly asks when it needs information that personally identifies you ("Personal Information") pertinent to the specific product or service you are choosing to use or subscribe to on the web site. For example, if you order one of our educational programs such as the Strategic Management Learning System, we collect your credit card number to process payment, and we collect your address information so that we can ship the materials to you. may also ask for non-personal information or demographic information.

How Is The Information Used?

For example: your email address is used to communicate periodic newsletters that are considered essential to the operation of the website. Do We Share Information With Others? will share your personal information with other companies only with your consent. Members of may participate in various programs and services. When participating in any program, there are two types of information sent to members: 1) account-specific information; and, 2) program or promotional information.

It also includes any communications describing any changes or updates to a particular service (such as new program options, billing procedures, etc.) Because account-specific communications are essential to providing the services in question, these types of communications will be sent to all Members.
